Here are a few images of my first week living in La Paz. Thursday morning, we woke up to a delicate blanket of snow. No, let me correct that, we were woken up at 6 AM to Lenny

running through the house screaming “¡Nieve! ¡Nieve!” It’s snowing! It’s snowing! Remember, we are technically in the tropics, and although Illiamni (over 18,000 feet) and the other Andean peaks are snow-covered year round, here in the bottom of the canyon, at a mere 14,000 feet, it rarely snows. Raúl said it is the first time he has ever seen snow here in the city in all is 31 years.

So the kids didn’t go to school, and we went to the plaza to have a snowball fight with the little snow that still hadn’t melted by midmorning.
