Holy Week--(more to come...)

Palm Sunday (celebrated with creepy Jesus riding a donkey through the streets. We prayed, we sang, I shed a few tears....it was very moving).

Good Friday--The Stations of the Cross

Different townsfolk constructed altars in the street, one for each of the 14 stations. That sepulchre the men are carrying is super heavy, they had to trade off every couple of stations. Except Fr. Rene. For him it was part of the penetential prayer, to suffer along with Jesus.

At each of the stations there was a little skit (including one puppet show) done by the students of the school. They were all very serious, with themes such as domestic violence, oppression of women, alcoholism, and child abandonment. The idea is that we all have our crosses to bear, and we although we may suffer, we can also share in the joy of eternal life with Jesus, as well.
