These are a few of the typical scenes around Tiraque. A cholita is an indigenous woman who wears the pollero (the skirt) and traditional outfit. Most of the women in Tiraque are cholitas, and they wear the clothes all their lives. Sometimes, in order to be more modern, a woman will dress her daughter in "normal" clothes, that is pants and shirt, because they think it will help them to succeed in the world. Also, some young women decide to stop wearing polleros if they go off to university in a big city, although there are still cholitas at universities, also.
